Artic Fan, Solar Powered
Fan-Attic™
Energy Saving Ventilation System
Cool & Ventilate Your Hot Attic for Free
It's never been easier to make your home
more
energy-efficient and save money at the same time. This
unique roof ventilator fan operates by solar power
from sunrise to sunset at no extra cost to you. In the
summer, the Fan-Attic reduces heat build-up, improving
air flow within the attic space. In the winter, it
reduces moisture build-up and condensation. The
Fan-Attic uses free energy from the sun to provide
years of worry-free, no-cost cooling and air
circulation. The Fan-Attic operates in direct
proportion to the sun's position in the sky. Because
of this, The Fan-Attic's blades provide the right
amount of ventilating power at any given time of day.
It's ideal for homes, cabins, garages, mobile homes,
storage spaces, sheds or any enclosed area needing
better air circulation.
Reduce Cooling Costs By Up to 50%
During the summer months, attic temperatures can soar
to over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes your home
hotter inside and as a result, increases the level of
energy consumption created by cooling and
air-conditioning equipment.
Helps Remove Heat Before it Gets Inside Your Home
This helps reduce the workload on cooling and
air-conditioning equipment by as much as 50%. This
helps to make your home a much more comfortable place
to be.
Serious Silent Savings
In the summertime, a conventional electric attic fan
can add $10-20 per month to your electric bill.
Conventional fans must also be wired into your home by
a licensed electrician which means electrical permits,
inspections, and added expense. The Fan-Attic, on the
other hand has its own built-in power supply, requires
no wiring and can be installed by a handy person in
less than one hour. By looking at a side by side
comparison (see chart below) of electric and solar
attic fans, it is easy to see how the Fan-Attic can
pay for itself in no time.
The Fan-Attic's low voltage DC motor makes virtually
no noise and with the balanced fan blade assembly, it
guarantees whisper quiet operation. The fan motor
works slower during the early morning / late afternoon
hours when the sun is lower on the horizon. During the
hottest part of the day when it is needed the most,
the solar panel's higher power output increases the
speed and efficiency of the Fan-Attic to move up to
800 cubic feet of air per minute.
Simple Installation & Tips
The Fan-Attic is an all-in-one unit that is pre-packed
for field installation with all components
pre-assembled and included. Simply remove it from the
box and it's ready fro installation - no assembly, no
wiring, no mess, no fuss! Installation consists of
mounting the flashing base over a 12-13" diameter
hole, cut through the roof and sheathing. The top edge
of the fan flashing is slid up under the roof material
and the underpayment. The fan flashing is then secured
to the roof sheathing with corrosion resistant screws
or nails. That's it! The Fan-Attic's proven circular
flashing design installs just like the pipe flashings
you have on your roof now. And because there is no
assembly or wiring, your labor expenses are greatly
reduced. It's one piece circular flashing / collar
design virtually eliminates potential roof leakage.
The Fan-Attic works best in full sunlight (southern
exposure is ideal) - avoid installing under shady
structures like trees. Performance will be most
effective if the unit is installed as close as
possible to the top ridge, as natural convection
causes hot attic air to rise upwards.
Operation During Winter Months
Attic ventilation systems are required year round.
Most people associate attic ventilation with heat;
however, of the two major forces at work in your
attic, moisture and heat, it is the former that is by
far the most destructive.
Since winter air is drier, the attic space is even
more susceptible to excessive moisture in the winter,
absorbing moisture from both your home and its
inhabitants. When air is trapped inside the attic, it
will always be warmer than the air outside. The roof
sheathing/decking will be colder in winter months,
creating even more condensation. It can literally
“rain” in your attic, producing mildew, or rotting
conditions, damaging wood members, sheathing/decking
and destroying shingles. It can also drip down to the
ceiling below to damage sheetrock, plaster or paint.
Insulation will become wet and provide less resistance
to heat loss in effect, losing its R-value. A
properly ventilated attic circulates the air, which
prevents moisture from forming.

Options and Energy Rebates
A pre-set, snap switch thermostat is available. Fan is
set to come on at 85 degrees F and turn itself off at
70 degrees F. Disconnect positive lead wire from the
motor terminal and connect it to the loose side of the
thermostat. Short lead wire attached to thermostat is
then connected back to the positive side of the motor.
Installation of a Fan-Attic may qualify for rebates
from your local electricity provider. Please check
directly with your utility company for rebate
information.
