Unique Lighting Control Features
- Using solar array voltage to determine day and night, the SunLight
provides 10 different lighting control options.
- By measuring the length of the night, the SunLight's ON/OFF/ON options
provide the capability to turn on the light at sunset, turn off the light
after 3 to 6 hours, and then turn on the light again for 1 or 2 hours before
sunrise.
- The length of the night is calculated by taking a moving 4 night
average, and thus automatically adjusts for seasonal changes in the length
of the night.
- The test button helps the installer by blinking the red LED to confirm
correct selection of lighting control option, and also turns on the light
for 5 minutes to verify that the light is operating correctly.
- Timer accuracy is within 2 seconds.
2.0 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS—This manual contains important
instructions that should be followed during installation and maintenance
of the SunLight controller.
• WARNING—Be very careful when working with batteries. Lead
acid batteries can generate explosive gases, and short circuits
can draw thousands of amps from the battery. Read all instructions
provided with the battery.
• Do not exceed the voltage or current ratings of the controller.
Use only with a 12 volt or 24 volt battery.
• DO NOT short circuit the PV array or load while connected to
the controller. This will DAMAGE the controller.
• The controller should be protected from direct sunlight. Ensure
adequate space for air flow around the controller.
• Pressure terminal connectors are not required. Use only copper
wire with minimum 75°C insulation rating and between 10 AWG
(5.2 mm2) and 14 AWG (2.1 mm2) gage.
• The negative system conductor should be properly grounded.

Battery Backup Systems for LED Traffic Signs Increase the public safety and reduced traffic congestion by allowing traffic lights to function even during a power failure. A typical traffic signal intersection experiences eight to ten local power outages annually. With IQUPS battery backup power, some or all the traffic control signals can continue to operate. This seamless switchover to battery power increases public safety and eliminates the need to dispatch police or other service personnel to direct traffic. If all traffic signals were converted to LEDs, the battery backup system would allow full operation of the traffic signals during a power outage, thus alleviating traffic congestion.
