Red Aviation Obstruction Light
The Red Obstruction Lights are designed to mark tall structures that
present hazards to air navigation. When installed in accordance with FAA
AC 70/74601, these lights increase the conspicuity of obstructions for
pilots flying at night.

Typical applications for red
obstruction light include water towers, cellular phone towers, antennas,
smoke stacks, skyscrapers and airport perimeter fencing. For the number
and placement of lights, the required duration of operation, and
recommendations for specific types of structures, refer to FAA Advisory
Circular No. 70/74601K
860 Series Multi-Purpose LED Light fulfills the needs of
engineers and architects requiring a rugged, weather-proof
fixture in color alternatives to the standard red
obstruction lights. Available in green, yellow, blue and
white in 12, 24 and 48 VDC; and 120 and 220 VAC (50 and 60
Hz), these fixtures are equally at home in an
office building, on the Arctic Tundra, or a sailboat. Truly
the LED solution to your lighting challenges.

There are three basic models -
the 810S with a single lamp, 810SE with a single lamp and wiring
enclosure and the 810DE with dual lamps and a wiring enclosure. An
optional photoelectric controller will provide automatic lighting
activation at dusk per FAA specifications. In the dual lamp units an
optional transfer relay activates the standby lamp upon failure of the
operating lamp.
The Models 810SE and 810DE feature a corrosion-protected die-cast
aluminum housing with a wiring enclosure for mounting on a 1" NPT pipe.
For ease of installation and maintenance all models are equipped with a
stainless steel tether securing the glass dome and a stainless steel
band providing tool-free access to the lamp. |

POINT ELEVATED LIGHTS PERIMETER & LEAD-IN LIGHT
Heliports & General Aviation Airports
The PEL 120v or 220-240v powered elevated lights mark
the
perimeters
of heliports and mark the preferred direction of helicopter approach.
They may also outline the runways and taxiways on VFR
general aviation airports. The fixture consists of a clear or colored
Fresnel lens mounted on yellow powdercoat painted cast aluminum lamp
housing secured by an o-ring seal and stainless steel clamp
band. The PEL's upper assembly mounts on a pipe extension into the
1.5-inch diecast aluminum FAA certified breakable coupling. The light is
furnished with wire leads for parallel circuiting. The -PLB mounting
option includes baseplate PL40301, gasket PL10049-4 and base PLB-40300.
Also suitable for FAA stake mounting using JAQ2205.

APPROACH LIGHTS SAL
SIMPLE APPROACH LIGHT
ICAO Annex 14, Paragraphs 5.3.4.2 to 5.3.4.9
The SAL-55200 Simple Approach Light is a wide beam elevated light use d
on VFR non-precision runways to provide enhanced approach guidance. The
fixture consists of a wide beam clear outer lens mounted on a yellow
powder-coat painted cast aluminum lamp housing secured by a gasket and
clamp band. The head assembly mounts on a slipfitter for 2-inch EMT
(60mm pipe) which is tightly secured by stainless steel cup-point
screws. The 60mm diameter mounting pipe extension (by others), cut to
length, may be set into a PL10041 die-cast aluminum breakable coupling.
The 6.6A light includes a cable assembly with FAA L-823 plug for
connection to a 200-watt isolation transformer. The SAL may be easily
leveled from the outside using stainless steel wing nuts.

POINT HELIPAD LIGHT COMBINATION PERIMETER & FLOODLIGHT
The PHL is a medium intensity 120 or 230 volts elevated helipad
perimeter
light and a floodlight intended to "wash" the pad with light. The PHL is
a combination of the PEL elevated edge light and a halogen floodlight.
The perimeter light consists of a Fresnel lens mounted on a powdercoat
painted cast aluminum housing secured by stainless-steel clamp band. The
fixture body finish is aviation yellow and the floodlight housing is
dark bronze anodized. The PHL's upper assembly mounts to the die-cast
aluminum FAA certified standard breakable coupling. The floodlight
includes a metal stone guard to protect the lens. The overall height is
15-inches making it compatible with standard height PEL's that may be
used together on the same helipad perimeter. The yellow perimeter light
and the clear floodlight may be separately circuited if independent
control is required.

Heliport
Perimeter & Touchdown, Taxiway Edge and Apron Edge
The PRL Point Rollover Light is perfect for heliport and small
airport applications where an inset light is required. The PRL uses long
life
severe
duty lamps and may be revamped without removing the fixture from its
mounting base. The PRL is only 8-inches in diameter yet has a wider
light source than other comparable lights. The thick tempered glass dome
lens will withstand high rollover loads. The lens and lamp housing
(optical assembly) are sealed mechanically without the use of chemical
sealants. The light is prewired with cable that enters via a watertight
compression fitting. Epoxy-filled wire nuts are included for use by the
installer. Use the yellow lens for heliport perimeter lights. When
installed as clear heliport touchdown lights, the PRL's may be
supplemented with PEL & PHL elevated perimeter lights. The -PLB option
is the usual mounting choice for the fixture.

FAA AC 150/5345-43

The POL POINTSPEC series of red aviation obstruction lights presents the
highest grade technical features and the most options available in the
industry. POL steady-burning obstruction lights are used to mark tall
structures that present hazards to air navigation. During the night,
these lights warn pilots when installed in accordance with FAA AC
70/7460-1 and applicable FCC and ICAO rules. Together with flashing FAA
L-864 PFB red beacons & POC controllers, POL's contribute to integrated
lighting systems. Applied individually, single & double POL's mount to
conduit in a variety of styles for lamp backup & lamp failure alarm
indication. Use the PPC photoelectric controller or option "-P" to
provide automatic lighting activation at dusk in accordance with FAA
specifications. All POINTSPEC POL's include lens & cover tethers,

A wi nd
cone is used to visually indicate wind direction at airports and
heliports. Point Lighting wind cones are installed at airports,
hospitals, corporate headquarters and military bases around the world.
Point recommends the PWC-8061L-1-ON-FF for heliports and as supplemental
wind cones on airports. This wind cone is inexpensive and easily
serviced from a step ladder. The PWC-8071L-1-ON-HBA provides a similar
wind cone with a hinged base pole with vibration damper.
Factory painting of the pole is standard. See PWC specifications section
for more details. |
